MICROCHIPPING IS COMPULSORY IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
DOG'S
All domestic dogs in Western Australia must be microchipped and submitted with your pets details to a database registry from 3 months of age.
Amendments to the legislation were made for domestic Dog's in 2013 and implemented from the 1st of November 2015.
CATS
As of 1st November 2013, all cats are required to be microchipped and submitted with your pets details to a database registry.
A penalty of $200 may apply if a cat or dog is not microchipped.
However, a pet may be exempt if the owner has a vet’s certificate stating the animal’s health and welfare may be at risk if chip implantation takes place.

When you transfer a cat or dog that is not microchipped attracts a penalty of $200.

Microchipping will help local rangers and vets to identify lost and stray pets and to quickly reunite them with their owners.
